Biology Starter Lab Station

The Biology Starter Lab Station makes it easy and affordable to begin using sensor-based technology in your biology classroom or home. To get you started, the Starter Lab Station includes the wireless sensors used to perform several core biology labs. The included manual has ten explorations that range from the cellular to organismal level and investigate processes such as respiration, photosynthesis, enzymatic activity, membrane permeability and osmosis. Students can also investigate cell size, body regulation, and the impacts of environmental factors on reaction rates and organism responses.

Also available to teachers who create their login at Pasco.com are the digital labs found in the Essential Biology and Advanced Biology Through Inquiry manuals. Available separately is the Biology Extension Lab Station (EB-6335) which, when combined with the Biology Starter Lab Station, comprises all the wireless sensors used to perform all 44 labs inside the Biology Through Inquiry manual, plus many of the lab activities found in PASCO's Advanced Biology through Inquiry lab manual. Components of the Starter Lab Station

Wireless Sensors: PASCO's rugged, low-cost wireless sensors connect directly to computers, Chromebooks, tablets, and mobile devices to allow students to quickly collect data, leaving more time for analyzing and interpreting data. This lab station includes:

• 1x Wireless Pressure Sensor (PS-3203)
• 1x Wireless pH Sensor (PS-3204)
• 1x Wireless CO2 Sensor (PS-3208)  

Gratnells Storage Tray: Every Starter Lab Station includes a Gratnells storage tray with a custom insert designed to securely fit each sensor and accessory. These trays provide a convenient and well-ordered storage solution for any classroom, while also making transportation between classrooms effortless. The custom storage insert also includes spaces for each complementary sensor from the Biology Extension Lab Station, which can be purchased separately. 

Digital Access to Lab Activities: Included with the starter lab station is digital access to:

• PASCO's Essential Biology manual - This lab manual includes 25 labs that cover topics in respiration, photosynthesis, enzymatic activity, membrane permeability, osmosis, cell size, body regulation, environmental impacts on reaction rates and organism response.
• PASCO's Advanced Advanced Biology through Inquiry manual - This lab manual covers the latest standards for College Board AP Biology.
  

Printed Samples of Student Handouts: 10 of the 44 student lab activity handouts from the Essential Biology and Advanced Biology through Inquiry manuals are printed, bound in a booklet, and included in the lab station for your convenience.

Distance Learning Resources: The 10 labs found in the Printed Samples Booklet also include digital resources to support distance learning for students working at home. These resources include live video recordings of data collection and sample data files that students can use to perform their own analyses.

Lab Activities

The Essential Biology Printed Samples Booklet includes 10 lab activities that integrate PASCO sensors and equipment for an engaging year of biology teaching. The combined Biology Starter Lab Station (EB-6334) and Biology Extension Lab Station (EB-6363) comprise the sensors used to perform all 10 labs, plus many of the 44 lab activities found in PASCO's Essential Biology Lab Manual and Advanced Biology through Inquiry Lab Manual via a Pasco.com user login.
